We have lived for more than 20 years a couple of blocks from the Back Bay in Newport Beach. The coyote sightings are numerous now and an everyday occurrence. There have been dozens of dogs and cats attacked just since mid 2015, and the increasingly brazen coyote behavior is unprecedented.
While in my own back yard with higher than 6ft walls, my dog was viciously attacked and we almost lost him. Several surgeries and $7k later, we were lucky. We love him! But our lives have changed and of late, the coyotes begin their hunt at sunset and they are not deterred by any large dogs, much less the presence of humans. Our pets have to supervised now in our own yards, just to go to the bathroom. We don’t take walks anymore because coyotes are such a threat.

  2. My dog Alfredo, attacked 1-8-14 on Tyndall drive (Springdale /McFadden) at 3am in my front yard, 20 feet from where I stood. He has staples all over him. Mostly his neck radius. He has pocketing (where his fur was pulled from the flesh) and a drain. Hemor says

These vicious killers belong in the wild, perhaps we citizens should reps them and relocate them to each council persons home .. See how you like watching fefe become an appetizer.

I live in Garden Grove Euclid 1/2 mile from GGPD. I found one of my feral cats with a crushed neck and almost all of inside organs gone. A Few days later I find another feral who has been killed they same way, this one a much later kill, dug up. Last week I found tuffs of hair on my front yard, in addition 2 newborn kittens with head chewed off. I took pictures of dead cat to Animal Control. They said there is nothing they can do. I did spot a (possible) coyote hiding in neighbors shrub. When I called Police, they to said officers do not go after coyotes, unless one attacks. Hey Coyote, wait till I make a call, OK? I cannot seem to get any answers to my problem. Why would a coyote leave 2 cats with no insides, and eat another? Helping feral cats, I have now 8 left, use to have 40 that would come and go. Why don’t I hear coyote howling? Why have I only heard (cannot verify, but positive) of one coyote kill? Don’t coyotes keep coming back until all outdoor ferrals are gone? I would really appreciate any feedback. This is not only driving me insane, it breaks my heart to see such horrific death. My gut tells me that when coyotes help to rid all cities of unwanted ferals, perhaps then they will start with shoot on site, TNR to area with fruit trees / rodents ( tranquiller dart gun works wonders) ,or the population will increase so much that the public will throw a bitch fit for their city to do something. My gut says why is it. that more humans have to be victimized in order for something to be done. Or our loved pets, responsiblily killed in fenced back yard. Crying out loud you get a citation if your dog is off leash. I am pissed, People EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED ABOUT THIS . I grew up on a ranch Westminister/ Newhope. Horses rabbits ducks chickens you name it. Never had a problem. Walked to school, no problem. Do Not Let Government Officals fill your head with garbage. Make the accountable!
