The notion that eradication of the urban coyote is not effective is in my opinion a crock. It’s a meme perpetrated by certain nature propagandists who are not looking at the big picture. Because there are no natural predators for the [urban] coyote they will expand to the ability of their food source. Constant action in the eradication/displacement of any one of these pests can mean that less pets and young children will be killed or injured. Because there is already a vacuum in nature doesn’t mean we shouldn’t interfere. Because we let coyotes run amok they have killed too many cats, and we now have a plague of rats running around. Cats are natural hunters of vermin. Rescue cats don’t often make good indoor pets, and most indoor cats can become schizophrenic if they are denied their natural instincts. Nature propagandists should focus more on human birth control if they are that concerned about our invasion of nature’s habitat, or at the very least, initiate programs teaching coyotes taste and place aversion therapy.

Kenneth you are absolutely right. Coyotes are protected and our dogs are spayed, sooner or later the coyotes will continue overpopulating and will go after more toddlers. Those who believe humans encroach the coyote territory can have a choice, either humans stop populating or coyotes stop over populating. God created earth for humans and created animals for their pleasure, He did not create the earth for predators, and if you think about it, how stupid would that be, they would hunt and hunt and fight until only one was left because that is what the animal kingdom does, human civilization would be ended, their theory is flawed and hypocritical. If you can’t kill them then capture and spay as many as possible and then there will be enough rabbits and squirrels to eat, and leave family pets and kids alone. the county is ridiculous .
